Sam Hayes is a writer and director from Chicago. He recently optioned his Halloween comedy, Costumes Required, to Seth Macfarlane (Fuzzy Door Productions). Sam’s experimental comedy short film, The Business of Moochery, premiered at Mammoth Film Festival 2019. Sam also directed a feature-length virtual reality RomCom starring Jordan Hinson in 2018 for Amaze VR, garnering 250k views and counting on their platform—the highest of all their content, and one of the highest in the narrative VR market.

Sam started his career in fiction, with a novel called The Weather Man, which was published by Amazon White Glove for New Years of 2017. The Nerdist’s Alpha Book Club called it “a roaring, soaring existential crisis,” while SyFy Network reported “a haunting portrait of 2018 America, painted with all the flying colors of 2076.”

Sam is native to the north shore of Chicago, where John Hughes made all of his coming of age comedies, from which he draws inspiration, hoping to tell stories filled with as much heart as hilarity.
